Jeffrey Blackwood has practiced in the Jackson office for over 26 years focusing on complex commercial litigation and securities matters. He has litigated cases on behalf of clients in Alabama, Arkansas, Delaware, Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, New York, Tennessee, and West Virginia.

Jeffrey has decades of experience representing broker-dealers, registered investment advisory firms, and other companies and individuals before FINRA, NASD and the SEC, as well as the Mississippi Securities Division. These matters have included investigations, enforcement actions, arbitrations, and litigation in federal and state court. His recent work includes representation of a private equity firm in a complex breach of contract and fraud matter. He has represented a trust in litigation involving investment LLCs that was tried in Delaware Chancery Court; the client prevailed and was awarded attorneys’ fees. He also recently obtained dismissal of a putative class action against a healthcare client in Mississippi federal court.

In addition, Jeffrey has significant experience in representing life insurance companies and brokers in a variety of matters, including sales practice litigation, regulatory actions, and professional negligence actions.

Jeffrey routinely speaks and writes on topics related to securities regulatory and enforcement matters and authored two chapters in the Encyclopedia of Mississippi Law. He has been actively involved in pro bono matters while serving on the firm’s Pro Bono Committee, and regularly volunteers with the Legal Clinic of Stewpot Community Services.
