John Haynes was a partner when he retired at Bradley. His primary practice involved the development, acquisition, financing, leasing and sale of institutional quality investment properties, with a special emphasis on serving German institutional clients and asset managers. John assisted many German investors in structuring various investments, including fee simple purchases, ground leases, master leases and joint ventures with owners and developers who are based in the United States. He was one of Bradley's delegates to AFIRE, the Association for Foreign Investment in Real Estate. As counsel to various investors, John closed transactions with a total value in excess of $2 billion.
John’s clients actively developed, owned, leased and managed properties across the United States with special emphasis on renal clinics and other healthcare facilities. As counsel to developers, John was typically involved from project inception throughout the life of each project, including negotiating purchase contracts, leases, joint venture agreements, development agreements, construction contracts and loan documents.
John had a special interest in urban redevelopment projects, having served as lead real estate counsel to Nashville’s housing and redevelopment agency for many years. He structured and closed many tax increment financing loans and other development incentives, including various public/private partnership transactions. He represented public housing agencies, as well as private developers with regard to the construction and financing of affordable and low-income housing, including projects financed with bonds, low-income housing tax credits, and various state and federal grants, including HOME and HOPE VI Revitalization Grants. John regularly represented developers, public agencies, owners, property managers and lenders.
