The Endangered Species Act Turns 50: Recent Regulatory Developments and Current Compliance Issues

This presentation will provide an overview of the Endangered Species Act (“ESA”), a discussion of the endangered and threatened species in the State of Alabama and other states in the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (“EPA”) Region 4, and a summary of EPA’s role in implementing ESA. Additionally, this presentation will address recent regulatory developments in ESA regulations, including the final rules issued under President Joe Biden’s administration that rescind those issued under former President Donald Trump’s administration, as well as current compliance issues and updated penalties for violations of ESA.
