Emily M. Ruzic Receives Bradley's 2022 Cameron J. Miller Award for Excellence and Community Service
Bradley is pleased to announce that Emily M. Ruzic, an associate in the firm’s Birmingham office, has been named the recipient of Bradley’s 2022 Cameron J. Miller Award for Excellence and Community Service.
This annual award honors an associate who exemplifies the excellence of Cameron Miller, who died in June 2012 after battling cancer his first year as an attorney at Bradley. The award includes a donation to a charity in Mr. Miller’s memory. This year, a $10,500 charitable donation will be made to Birmingham’s Cooperative Downtown Ministries, Inc., aka Firehouse Shelter, the organization selected by Ms. Ruzic.
“Emily is an exceptional attorney who has demonstrated a passion for serving her community,” said Bradley Chairman of the Board and Managing Partner Jonathan M. Skeeters. “Her tremendous leadership and contributions to philanthropies throughout Birmingham honor Cam’s memory and his example of excellence both inside and outside the firm.”
A member of the firm’s Litigation Practice Group, Ms. Ruzic handles complex business litigation matters, including non-compete and breach-of-contract cases; trade secret, trademark, and copyright infringement litigation; and Federal Trade Commission investigations. She is a member of the DRI and will assume the role of chair of DRI’s Young Lawyers Committee, which has more than 1,600 members across the globe.
Ms. Ruzic is an active member of the Birmingham community and has been an avid supporter of the Firehouse Shelter for almost 25 years, serving meals alongside her family and colleagues and providing support through her service with the Rotaract Club of Birmingham. She has served as the director of the Rotaract Club of Birmingham Foundation and chaired the club’s Board Fellows Program, a training program that exposes the membership to nonprofits over the course of the year by allowing them to serve on boards in non-voting capacities. She organized and managed the programming and recruited participating nonprofit partners and fellows, more than tripling the number of participant organizations. Ms. Ruzic was recognized with the Rotaract Club’s Paul Harris Fellow Award for her exceptional service in 2019, and she was awarded the Mahon-Pinehardt Director’s Award in 2021 as a member who goes above and beyond in their membership and commitment to the club.
Additionally, Ms. Ruzic is a seventh-year active member in the Junior League of Birmingham and serves as the assistant chair for Diversity and Inclusion. Ms. Ruzic has also served on the Junior Board of Children’s Harbor at Lake Martin and supported the United Way of Central Alabama as a member of the Young Philanthropists Society.
Bradley established the Cameron J. Miller Award for Excellence and Community Service in conjunction with Mr. Miller’s parents, Frank and Alice Miller, and family friends, Charlie and Sheri Perry, along with their daughter Katherine. Through the award, Mr. Miller’s contributions and service to the firm and the community will continue to be recognized in a tangible way.
