Whitt Steineker Quoted in Yellowhammer News on Industry Opposition to SB72

Bradley attorney Whitt Steineker was quoted in Yellowhammer News on his concerns about Alabama Senate Bill 72, a new bill aimed at overhauling Alabama’s troubled medical cannabis licensing process.
Sen. Tim Melson, who introduced SB72, insists that the bill aims to break the gridlock and provide relief to patients, but opponents argue that the bill is flawed and potentially unconstitutional. Steineker and other legal experts have also raised red flags, stating that preventing courts from reviewing licensing decisions could violate fundamental legal principles.
“While limiting litigation is understandable, an outright ban on judicial review is not legally permissible,” wrote Steineker in a legal analysis of the bill.
