Bradley attorney Robert Maddox was quoted in Inside Mortgage Finance on the recent reinstatement of hundreds of probationary employees by the CFPB and HUD, who had been terminated as part of workforce reductions ordered by the Trump administration and subsequently placed on administrative leave.
“The mass layoffs at the CFPB as well as many federal employees leaving to work in the private sector will have an impact on the mortgage industry,” said Maddox.
“There’s going to be a brain drain that will impact the industry,” he explained.
Maddox added that while some of the political appointees who are moving into the federal government have a “great desire to move the American mortgage financial structure forward,” it’s unclear how they will execute plans with a smaller team of employees.
