Rance Sapen Named Bradley’s Chief Operating Officer

Bradley is pleased to announce that John R. “Rance” Sapen has joined the firm as chief operating officer (COO). He succeeds Joe Wood, who is retiring after serving in the role for nearly 15 years.

As COO, Mr. Sapen oversees the firm’s operational aspects, including administration, human resources, finance, and technology, among others. Mr. Sapen joins Bradley from Butler Snow LLP, where he served as chief financial officer for 14 years before being named COO in 2018.

Mr. Sapen has experience leading firm operations for attorneys and staff, building leadership teams, and implementing strategic initiatives to improve client service. His background as a certified public accountant (CPA) and CFO have enabled him to effectively streamline processes, including identifying innovative financial and project workflow technologies to create efficiencies and enhance productivity. Before transitioning to the legal industry in 2004, Mr. Sapen served as vice president of finance and CFO for an insurance management company and worked for more than a decade as a financial auditor with several advisory firms, including Deloitte LLP.

Mr. Sapen earned his M.B.A. from Mississippi College and his B.S.B.A. in Accounting from the University of Southern Mississippi. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and holds the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter designation and the Certified Global Management Accountant designation.
