A Behavioral Health Conundrum – Should The DEA allow Telemedicine Controlled Substances Prescribing?

The DEA is updating its rules concerning prescribing controlled substances via telehealth means, which were greatly relaxed during the COVID-19 Pandemic. Behavioral health providers across the U.S. equally support and criticize a potential move to formalize a more relaxed approach to prescribing controlled substances via telehealth means, especially given the current opioid epidemic. During this presentation, health law attorneys Evie Lalangas and Elaine Moore will review the current law to prescribe via telehealth and discuss the range of views about the policy going forward as we await the proposed rules.
