Shannon served in the United States Marine Corps as a captain and judge advocate, where he defended Marines in over 100 court martial and administrative hearings. He graduated first in a class of 150 attorneys at Naval Justice School and won the Association of Trial Lawyers of America Outstanding Trial Advocacy Award in 2001.
